Nutrisco joins NOVA-IA to anticipate trends and accelerate food innovation

We have joined NOVA-IA, an initiative that brings together companies, academia and the public sector to develop artificial intelligence solutions for challenges facing the food industry. Our participation will focus on gaining a deeper understanding of customers and consumers, identifying emerging needs and turning those insights into innovation.

At Nutrisco, we believe that changes in the food landscape require new capabilities to better understand the market, anticipate trends and respond to customer needs. Against this backdrop, we have joined NOVA-IA (New Opportunities for Food Valorization through Artificial Intelligence), a technology initiative supported by Corfo and led by Dictuc that aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Chile’s food industry through the development of AI-powered solutions.

The program was officially launched on August 4 at the UC Anacleto Angelini Innovation Center and brings together expertise from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (CENIA), Universidad de La Serena and Mumulkan, along with six participating companies: Carozzi, Cáscara Foods, Nestlé, Nutrisco, Sticta and Viña Concha y Toro.

NOVA-IA aims to apply artificial intelligence to real-world challenges and opportunities across the food industry. Its work is structured around three main areas: creating value from food loss and by-products, optimizing supply chains and production processes, and market and consumer intelligence. Each project brings together company teams, specialists and academics to develop and validate solutions in real-world settings.

Better understanding customers and consumers to drive innovation

Our participation focuses on the market and consumer intelligence pillar. Through NOVA-IA, we will implement an AI-powered customer insights system using tools such as natural language processing and automated collection of digital information.

This system will enable us to analyze market signals more efficiently, identify emerging needs, anticipate trends and accelerate our product innovation processes.

This challenge is particularly relevant at a time when eating habits are changing and people are increasingly looking for solutions that are convenient, nutritious, sustainable and aligned with their lifestyles. For us, gaining a deeper understanding of this evolution and turning available data into actionable insights will help strengthen decision-making and enable us to develop solutions that are increasingly relevant to consumers.

As Rafael Eyzaguirre, Nutrisco’s representative on the NOVA-IA Strategic Council, explained:

“For Nutrisco, participating in NOVA-IA represents a significant opportunity. This project will enable us to develop an AI-powered customer and consumer insights system capable of analyzing digital information, identifying emerging market needs, anticipating trends and accelerating product innovation.”

Innovation through collaboration

NOVA-IA also reflects something that is fundamental to us: innovation requires collaboration. This project brings together companies, academia and the public sector around a shared challenge: building a more competitive, technology-driven and future-ready food industry, he added.

One of NOVA-IA’s key strengths is its collaborative model, which connects real business challenges with specialized scientific and technological expertise. Through this approach, the program aims to generate knowledge and tools with the potential to contribute to the development of the food industry.

Being part of this initiative allows us to further strengthen our ability to anticipate change, innovate and gain a deeper understanding of consumer needs. Understanding how people’s habits, preferences and expectations are evolving is key to developing food solutions that better fit into their everyday lives and to continuing to advance better nutrition so people can enjoy life.
