At Valle Frío, we will combine solar self-generation and 100% renewable electricity supply to advance toward a more sustainable operation
Starting in 2027, our electricity supply will combine solar power generated at the plant with 100% renewable electricity, strengthening the energy efficiency and traceability of our operation while responding to the growing expectations of customers and markets.
Sustainability and traceability are becoming increasingly important across supply chains. In this context, at Valle Frío we are moving toward an electricity supply model that will combine two clean energy sources: solar power generated directly at our Romeral plant and a 100% renewable electricity supply.
The first of these initiatives is the photovoltaic project we are developing together with Copec Flux, which is expected to become operational during the last quarter of 2026. It is the largest solar project implemented to date within our Agrifood business unit and will allow us to generate locally nearly 30% of the energy we require throughout the year.
Beginning January 1, 2027, this project will be complemented by a 100% renewable electricity supply from Copec EMOAC. The agreement will run for four years and will allow us to certify the traceability of the renewable origin of the electricity through the supplier’s RENOVA certification.
“At Valle Frío, we are moving toward an increasingly efficient and sustainable operation. That is why, starting in 2027, Copec EMOAC will supply us with 100% renewable electricity. This agreement complements the photovoltaic facility we are developing at our Romeral plant, which will allow us to generate locally nearly 30% of the energy we need throughout the year. Together, both initiatives are helping us incorporate new energy solutions and advance toward an operation with a lower environmental impact”
Renewable and traceable energy for a more efficient and sustainable operation
By combining solar self-generation with certified renewable electricity supply, we aim to strengthen the efficiency and sustainability of our operation, advance in the responsible use of resources, and ensure continuity of our energy supply. This model will also allow us to certify the renewable origin of the electricity used in our processes and respond to customers and markets that are incorporating increasingly stringent environmental and traceability requirements across their supply chains.
“Sustainability is part of how we understand our business and how we envision our operations for the future. Both projects incorporate renewable energy solutions that enable us to make tangible progress in our decarbonization plan and continue strengthening an increasingly efficient and responsible operation”
